AMD prepares for high frequency 32/64 core Xiaolong: unprecedented acceleration of 4.4GHz

AMD released the second-generation Xiaolong 7002 series processor code-named Rome in August last year, with 7nm technology and Zen 2 architecture. A single processor has up to 64 cores and 128 threads, 256MB L3 cache, 128 PCIe 4.0 channels and 4TB memory, making it the strongest x86 processor in history, and its cost performance is still excellent.
Later this year, AMD should also release the third generation Xiaolong, code-named Milan, and further upgrade to the Zen 3 architecture.
In the process of the development and deployment of the second generation Xiaolong, new models are constantly emerging, such as Xiaolong 7H12, which is customized according to customer needs, with 64 cores and 128 threads, the benchmark frequency is accelerated from the original highest 2.25GHz to 2.6GHz, and the thermal design power consumption is increased from 225W to 280W, which can provide stronger performance.
Later, some data showed that AMD also prepared customized models such as Xiaolong 7V12, Xiaolong 7R22 and Xiaolong 7R32. The thermal design power consumption of the former is 240W, and the latter two are 280W W.
Now, Xiaolong 7V12 has appeared in GeekBench test database, with as many as 64 cores and 128 threads (because it was detected incorrectly from the virtual machine), and the third-level cache is still 256MB. In terms of frequency, the detected benchmark is 2.44GHz, and the highest acceleration is 3.22GHz. Similar to Xiaolong 7H12, the benchmark frequency is also increased, but the acceleration frequency is further reduced, so the power consumption is controlled.
Xiaolong 7R22/7R23 is still missing, and there may be fewer cores, but the frequency is higher and higher. After all, the thermal design power consumption of 280W is still there.
Another source said that AMD is still preparing a Xiaolong 7372, 32-core 64-thread, the frequency is quite amazing, the benchmark is 3.4GHz, and the highest acceleration is 4.4GHz!
What is this concept? At present, the highest acceleration frequency of the whole second-generation Xiaolong family is only 3.4GHz, which suddenly increased by 1GHz. I really don’t know what medicine AMD drank.
This specification is close to the desktop-level third-generation thread ripper 3970X with the same technology and architecture, which is also a 32-core 64-thread, with a frequency of 3.7-4.5GHz and thermal design power consumption of 280W W. It is estimated that Xiaolong 7372 will be similar.
