Wang Qishan visits Japan.

  Xinhua News Agency, Sapporo, Japan, October 25th (Reporter Deng Yushan, Ye Shan) At the invitation of the Japanese government, president’s special envoy to the Supreme Leader, Wang Qishan, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, went to Tokyo to attend the celebration of Emperor Naruhito’s accession to the throne on October 22nd, and paid a friendly visit to Japan from October 21st to 25th, where he met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso respectively.

  Wang Qishan conveyed to Emperor Naruhito and his wife Peng Liyuan’s sincere congratulations to the Emperor and Empress, and asked them to convey their cordial greetings to Emperor Akihito and Empress. Emperor Naruhito asked Wang Qishan to convey the heartfelt thanks and best wishes of the Emperor and his wife and the Emperor’s wife to the President Xi couple.

  When meeting with Shinzo Abe, Wang Qishan conveyed the cordial greetings from the Chairman of the Supreme Leader and Premier Li Keqiang, and expressed sympathy and condolences for the serious casualties and losses caused by the rare and super typhoon disaster in Japan. Wang Qishan said that in June this year, the Chairman of the Supreme Leader and the Prime Minister reached a series of important consensuses on promoting the construction of Sino-Japanese relations that meet the requirements of the new era, and bilateral relations ushered in new development opportunities. The two sides should strictly abide by the principles established in the four political documents of China and Japan, properly handle issues such as history and Taiwan Province, and ensure the sustained development of bilateral relations along the correct track of peace, friendship and cooperation. China is willing to continuously consolidate political mutual trust with Japan, deepen pragmatic cooperation, expand humanities exchanges, build a constructive security relationship, and work together as a defender of multilateralism, a promoter of open cooperation, and a practitioner of civilized dialogue, making positive contributions to promoting world and regional peace, stability and development. The Chairman of the Supreme Leader agreed in principle to be invited to pay a state visit to Japan next spring. He hoped that the two sides would maintain close communication and coordination and actively create a suitable and favorable environment and atmosphere to ensure the smooth realization and complete success of the visit.

  Shinzo Abe once again congratulated People’s Republic of China (PRC) on its 70th anniversary and thanked Chairman Supreme Leader for specially appointing Vice President Wang Qishan as a special envoy to attend the Emperor’s accession ceremony and pay a friendly visit to Japan. Shinzo Abe said that Japan-China exchanges have a long history and the traditional friendship is profound. At present, the pragmatic economic and trade cooperation between the two countries is deepening, and they are coping side by side in international affairs, shouldering a major responsibility for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world. Both countries are entering a new era. The meeting between the leaders of the two countries in Osaka has pushed Japan-China relations back to normal in an all-round way, and there is great potential for cooperation in the future. Japan is eagerly looking forward to the Supreme Leader’s state visit to Japan next spring, and is willing to properly handle sensitive issues such as Taiwan Province, work with China to strengthen top-level design, maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, and work together to build beautiful, harmonious, future-oriented and dynamic Japan-China relations.

  When meeting with Taro Aso, Wang Qishan said that China and Japan, as important countries in Asia and major economies in the world, should more consciously examine and grasp the relations between the two countries in the context of the international and times, and make strategic plans from a long-term strategic perspective. In the new era, China and Japan have broader common interests and common concerns, and the strategic value of bilateral relations has become increasingly prominent. China is willing to work with Japan to seize the opportunity, focus on the long-term and overall situation, comprehensively strengthen coordination and communication in various fields, including financial cooperation, and jointly promote bilateral relations with by going up one flight of stairs.

  Aso said that strengthening frank, open and constructive exchanges between Japan and China is beneficial to bilateral relations. Japan supports market opening and free trade, and is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China in the financial field. Japan is making active preparations to create a favorable atmosphere for President Xi’s visit to Japan next year.

  During his visit to Japan, Wang Qishan also met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga Yoshihide, former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party Nikai Toshihiro and Governor of Hokkaido Sugarashi omichi.

  Wang Qishan also met with Pakistani President Alwi at an appointment in Tokyo.
