Cctv newsThe reporter learned today from the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Land and Resources that the construction of the national groundwater monitoring project site consisting of 20,000 monitoring points has been basically completed.

The national groundwater monitoring project is jointly organized and implemented by the Ministry of Land and Resources and the Ministry of Water Resources. The construction content includes 16 key monitoring areas in China, including 1 national groundwater monitoring center, 7 river basin monitoring centers and 63 provincial monitoring centers.

At present, the total monitoring area has reached 3.5 million square kilometers, and more than 20,000 monitoring points with an average of 5.85 per 1,000 square kilometers have been basically completed. For the first time, a national groundwater monitoring network with clear monitoring horizon, advanced technical means and complete monitoring facilities will be formed in China, and the dynamic monitoring of groundwater level and water quality in major plain basin areas, karst contiguous areas, ecologically fragile areas and major engineering areas will be basically realized.

Li Wenpeng, chief expert of the National Groundwater Monitoring Project of China Geological Survey, said that all the groundwater monitoring stations built this time have made full use of new technologies such as cloud technology, big data and Internet of Things, and directly transmitted the monitoring data in the field to the National Groundwater Monitoring Center. We can use these data to know the hydrological and water quality of groundwater in real time and provide solid data support for our scientific planning and rational utilization of groundwater resources.

In the next step, China will comprehensively start the maintenance of the national groundwater monitoring network and the monitoring of groundwater quality. At the same time, in order to further improve the accuracy of groundwater monitoring, Inner Mongolia, Beijing, Henan, Shandong and other provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) have started the construction of more refined provincial groundwater monitoring outlets on the basis of the national network.
